Kruger National Park

HISTORY

Established in 1898, the Kruger Park is South Africa’s oldest wildlife reserve. The then president of the Transvaal Republic, Paul Kruger, proposed the need to protect the animals of the Lowveld in 1884. But his vision only took effect 12 years later, when the area between the Sabie and Crocodile Rivers was set aside for restricted hunting.

TODAY

Thanks to the park’s conservation management, approximately 147 mammal species occur in the reserve. South Africa’s Kruger National Park is one of the best places in the world for you to see leopard, lion, buffalo, rhino and elephant in the wild. On our last trip to Kruger we stayed at Satara camp and saw the Big 5 in the first half an hour of our safari day. What Luck!
