East Africa
The geography of East Africa is often stunning and scenic. East Africa is the site of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, the two tallest peaks in Africa. It also includes the world’s second-largest freshwater lake, Lake Victoria, and the world’s second deepest lake, Lake Tanganyika. We specialise in 4 Exotic Destinations in East Africa; Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
Tanzania and Kenya are your classic safari countries with their very famous national parks. Both countries have wide-open savannahs, the Big 5 (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino) and of course the interesting Masai tribe.
Kenya
Kenya has 536 km of coastline and some amazing beaches plus a number of very large national parks including Masai Mara, Tsavo East & West, Amboseli, Samburu & is home to Mount Kenya. Kenya is also known for its wonderful coffee.
Tanzania
It is also home to the Great Wildebeest Migration which sees over 1.5 million animals migrate around the Serengeti and over the border into Kenya. Like Kenya, Tanzania has many famous national parks including the Serengeti for the Great Migration, Ngorongoro Crater for the rhino and ‘big tusker’ elephant, Lake Manyara for the tree-climbing lions and Gombe Stream National Park made famous all over the world by Jane Goodall and her pioneering research on chimpanzees.
The tropic island of Zanzibar (part of the Spice Islands) belongs to Tanzania.
Rwanda
Rwanda has breathtaking scenery, predominantly mountainous terrain and is known as “Land of a Thousand Hills”. Going gorilla trekking is for many the number one reason to visit Rwanda. Seeing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitats is certainly an experience you’ll never forget.
Uganda
Known as the “Pearl of Africa” Uganda has spectacular scenery and wonderfully warm people. It’s a hugely diverse country of mountains and lakes, rainforests and savannah lands with experiences to match all. Uganda is also responsible for conserving the critically endangered mountain gorillas. You can see the Big 5, gorillas, chimpanzees, monkeys and a huge variety of birds.
